FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (faq)

How much are classes?
Please contact an instructor at (720) 890-0942 for rates. We offer discounts for families, veterans, students and couples. We have month-to-month, quarterly and annual contracts for your convenience.

How often are my classes?
Our adult and junior programs are 3 classes per week. If you wish to take more than 3 classes per week, there are several all-belt classes. The Pee Wee program (6 years and under) is 2 days a week.

What do I wear?
When you enroll at our school, the initial fee includes a uniform (jacket, pants and belt) and school shirt. T-shirts worn under the uniform must be tucked in. During warm weather, students may wear their school t-shirts in place of the jacket. Athletic shoes are optional. Barefeet are okay. We ask that jewelry, hair clips and other items that can cause injury during class be removed.

is it safe?
A wonderful aspect of our system is that unlike other martial arts, it takes into account body mechanics that promote long term health. We teach movements that are designed to avoid undue stress on joints, yet still be effective in a real life situation.

Why should I take Kung Fu?
There are many reasons to take a martial art including exercise, improving health and learning self defense techniques to protect oneself and family. Our school is unqiue in that we also offer the philosophical aspect of Kung Fu - when to use physical force and what level of force to use. Not all attacks are kill moves. Learn how to use your skill for different purposes and how to avoid conflict in the first place.

Do I have to compete in tournaments?
No one is forced to compete. We have competitions with schools from our association, which are voluntary. These competitions are complementary tools for those who wish to test their skills in a safe environment.

What is the significance of the colored belts?
As students progress, their achievement is indicated by the color of their belt. Requirements for each belt differ for children and adults. How to tie your belt

Why are there no mats on the floor or mirrors on the walls?
We try to remain as authentic as possible to the Chinese temples. Monks did not need mirrors to practice their Kung Fu. Also in a real life situation, there will not be a mat on the ground to protect you. Many martial artists who are trained on mats, revert to certain moves that have proven unsafe to them when out in the street. We have portable mats for certain exercises, however students are taught how to fall and protect themselves on our carpeted floors.
