Premiere Grand Master Young Ik Suh

The American School of Martial Arts has been in Burbank, California almost forty years. It was founded in the sixties by Premiere Grand Master Young Ik Suh and was called the Young Suh School of Self Defense. In 1976, Master Don Baird was awarded the school and its leadership position by Mr. Suh.

Our style has come from a long, traditional history which dates directly back to Shaolin Kung Fu and Wutang Kung Fu styles. Its current name, Pyong An Do Won means "way of peaceful mind" and is the indication of our school's core philosophy.
